It is indeed a matter of immense pride as the meritorious students of Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana performed commendably in all the events at PU Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival held at SDP College for Women, Ludhiana from 27th September-30th September, 2016. In totality, the adroit girls of the college brought home 54 prizes. The dexterous girls of the college clinched as many as 20 First prizes in the category of Poem Recitation, Installation, Cartooning, Rangoli, Still life, Clay Modeling, Mitti de Khidaune, Shabad Gayan (individual), Indian Orchestra and Ennu Making. Following them 3 Second Prizes were bagged in Tokri Making, Pakkhi Making and On the Spot Painting. The maidens of the college gave a tough competition to their contenders by capturing a humongous 31 Third positions in Naala Making, Guddian Patole, Bagh Embroidery, Sammi, Folk Instrument, Group Shabad, Elocution, Debate, Creative Writing (Poetry and Essay), Histrionics, Mimicry, Kali Gayan (Group), Kali Gayan (Individual) and Kawishri (Individual).Principal Dr.(Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal applauded the stupendous results shown by the students. She exclaimed that the students deserve a special kudos for their exemplary efforts that has bedecked the glory of the college.
The NSS Unit of Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town Ludhiana organised 3 Day Skin Checkup Camp from 27 September, 2016 to 29 September, 2016 in collaboration with Deepak Hospital, Ludhiana. The objective of this initiative was to spread awareness and provide solution to skin related problems due to weather changes and lack of hygienic skin care practices. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal inaugurated the camp. Speaking on the occasion Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal said that health and well being of the students is of utmost priority and we are delighted that we have been able to spread awareness and provide health care facilities to students affected with skin problems. Dr. Anupama Rampal, Consultant Dermatologist and Cosmetologist Deepak Hospital, Ludhiana suggested that skin is an integral part of person’s identity. Any unusual changes in skin colour or complexion is a cause of worry for most people and advised the students to take care of the skin which is often neglected. The event saw a huge participation from the students and the faculty – a step towards a better living!
The Athletes of Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana out did others in Open Punjab State Athletics Championship held at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana from 16th-18th September, 2016 by clinching 5 Gold, 8 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals. Vipanjit Kaur of BA.-2nd won 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal, Abhiti Sharma won 2 Gold, 1 Silver Medals, Soma Rani BA.-2nd won 1 Gold and 1 Bronze Medal in u/20 age group. While in women section Shivdeep Kaur of MA.-2nd (Political Science) won 2 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal, Amandeep Kaur MA.-1st (History) won 2 Silver Medals, Rajni of PGDPM&LW won 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal and Sukhveer Kaur of BA.-2nd won Silver Medal. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts put in by their mentors.
