The campus of Guru Nanak Girls College dazzled with colours amid Fresher’s Day celebration on 02.09.2016. Senior students of the PG Faculty of Science organized a cultural show to welcome the newcomers. The function commenced with a short speech by Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal in which she formally welcomed the new students on behalf of the staff and all students. She assured that unstinted efforts would be made to develop all-round personality of the students. A beautiful and entertaining cultural extravaganza comprising of elegant dances, melodious songs, realistic skits and humorous choreography was presented by the seniors. The hallmark of the day was Miss Fresher Contest in which 70 students took part. The stage came alive as the contestants sashayed down the ramp in scintillating attires. The question-answer round put the brains of the participants to test. The display of costumes, accessories, beauty, intelligence and presence of mind were fabulous. Muskan (B.Sc-I Med) was declared Miss Fresher, Stephy (PGDCAF) and Sakshi (B.Sc-Biotech) were the first and second Runners up respectively. Aabida (M.Sc-Biotech) was given the title of Miss Beautiful Smile, Neha Sharma (M.Sc-Math) was declared Miss Elegant, Ekta (B.Sc-Biotech) was declared Best Outfit and Avneet (B.Sc-Biotech) was declared Best Hairstyle. Dr.(Mrs.) Surinder Bhathal, Mrs. Sukhwinder Cheema and Mrs. Kavita Kuplish performed the duty of judges. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Charanjit Mahal crowned the winners and presented them tokens of appreciation. A view of cheer and joy prevailed everywhere.
